Independent guide — not the government, not a Lifeline provider

MyFLFamilies / ACCESS Florida Users: Here's Your Lifeline Free Phone Eligibility.

MyFLFamilies.com is the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) umbrella portal. If you're using it for SNAP, Medicaid, or TANF benefits, you almost certainly qualify for free Lifeline phone service — a permanent federal program for low-income households.

What Is MyFLFamilies?

MyFLFamilies.com is the Florida Department of Children and Families website. From there, you apply for and manage benefits through the ACCESS Florida system (now branded MyACCESS Florida) — the actual self-service portal for:

  • SNAP (Food Assistance) — Florida food stamps
  • Medicaid — free or low-cost health coverage
  • TANF (Temporary Cash Assistance)
  • Refugee Assistance
  • Optional State Supplementation (OSS)

Most Florida residents start at myflfamilies.com, click through to ACCESS Florida, and submit their application at myflorida.com/accessflorida.

If You're on MyFLFamilies Benefits, You Likely Qualify for Lifeline

The programs managed through MyFLFamilies are the same programs that federally qualify you for Lifeline — free phone or internet service worth $9.25/month off, which most providers apply as a free smartphone:

Florida SNAP

A direct federal Lifeline qualifier — you qualify today.

Florida Medicaid

A direct federal Lifeline qualifier — you qualify today.

Temporary Cash Assistance

Not a direct qualifier, but TCA recipients almost always meet the 135% FPG income limit.

Refugee Assistance

Income-eligible refugees typically qualify on income proof.

MyFLFamilies / ACCESS Florida FAQ

What's the difference between MyFLFamilies, ACCESS Florida, and MyACCESS Florida?

MyFLFamilies.com is the DCF agency website. ACCESS Florida is the historical name of the self-service benefits portal. MyACCESS Florida is its current branding. They all route to the same account and case records.

Do I need to verify my benefits with DCF before applying for Lifeline?

No. Your MyACCESS Florida case is already verified by DCF. You just need to show proof of your active case — a screenshot or approval letter works.

My kids are on Florida KidCare but I'm not. Does that qualify me?

If the kids are on KidCare Medicaid specifically, yes — the household qualifies. If they're on MediKids, Healthy Kids, or CMS Plan (non-Medicaid tiers), you likely qualify on income. See our Florida KidCare + Lifeline guide.

I can't log in to MyACCESS Florida. Who do I contact?

DCF customer call center: 1-866-762-2237. For Lifeline purposes, you don't need portal access — any recent approval letter is valid proof.
